A freelance costumier with a background in circus, carnival and street theatre, my passion is to create bold and beautiful costumes using a variety of techniques: either by working from designs to create specific pieces or designing and creating fantastical costumes for you involving original pattern cutting, masks, headwear and head-dresses.

I am used to working in both traditional and contemporary fabrics, and due to working in recycled fashion for a number of years, am not fazed by unusual fabrics like rubber and plastic! However, my theatre school training means that I am equally at home with more traditional costume making, such as corsetry and tailoring. I hold a Professional Diploma in Costume Making for TV, Theatre and Film from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (www.oldvic.ac.uk). Practical skills include pattern cutting, corsetry, tailoring, millinery, tu-tus, stage make-up, body padding, costume props and wearable art, amongst other things.

An adventurer at heart, I have travelled far and wide with my creativity, particularly Spain, Germany and, more recently, Brazil: I was responsible for making a set of 24 costumes for a float at Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival 2011. My experience also includes theatre, circus, TV, pantomime, dance and touring street theatre. Please see the Clients section for a list of companies I have collaborated with.

I take on costume commissions from my studio in Bristol, where I can work closely with you to realise your design, or can take on your commission single-handedly. Either way, you will receive a beautifully made, one-off costume creation.
